Auchan Russia to open six hypermarkets in 2012

French grocery retailer Auchan plans to open six hypermarkets in Russia in 2012, Auchan Russia CEO Jean-Pierre Germain told local press. "We will open six classic hypermarkets next year and continue to work on projects that are not yet complete. The coverage zone for the store is around 150,000 residents. Therefore, if we have the chance we will of course develop in Novosibirsk," Germain said. The hypermarkets will be located in Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Volgograd and Rostov-on-the-Don. Auchan also operates a chain of more than 50 Atak supermarkets in the country and plans to increase this number to 200 by 2015.
