Dixi to close all VMart neighbourhood stores

Russian retailer Dixi plans to close all 12 VMart neighbourhood stores. The management has concluded that developing a network targeting the middle income consumers is inappropriate in the current economic climate and will focus on the developing the price-oriented Dixi supermarkets and neighbourhood stores. As the VMart stores have a small sales area of around 250 square metres, remodelling them to the Dixi banner is unlikely. Dixi was developing VMart stores in Moscow and St Petersburg since late 2007.
