Rigla to close up to 30 pharmacies

Managing Director of Russian pharmacy chain Rigla, Oleg Astafurov, has said that it plans to close up to 30 pharmacies which are unprofitable. The majority of them are located outside Moscow. In 2009, Rigla does not plan any expansion. It is going to optimise its business and improve store efficiency. However, if there were any interesting option for acquisition, Rigla would consider it, he added. Rigla posted revenue of USD415 million in 2008, an increase of 35.6% year-on-year.
