Tesco to make 140 Irish staff redundant

UK retailer Tesco will make 140 people in its Irish head office redundant. The company is offering the workers voluntary redundancy as a result of its plans to outsource business and “displace” Irish suppliers. It is understood that the severance package on offer will be equal to five weeks' pay per year of service, up to a maximum of two years' salary. In a statement, the company said it was restructuring its central office operations "as a result of changes to our market and supply structures".
