X5 Retail Group in talks to acquire Holiday Klassik

Russia-based X5 Retail Group is reportedly negotiating the acquisition of Siberian retailer Holiday Klassik. According to the local media, X5 is going to purchase 100% of Holiday Klassik. Holiday Klassik is one of the leading retailers in West Siberia, operating around 130 supermarkets and neighbourhood stores. X5 is keen to expand in Siberia. In October 2008, it was negotiating with Alpi, another leading Siberian retailer, about acquiring 22 Alpi hypermarkets.
